Peace In Christ Sunday School is in session from September through May and is geared for children ages pre-school through sixth grade. The Sunday School meets each Sunday at 9:30 a.m. God has blessed our Sunday School with a wonderful teaching staff who are eager to teach God's word and share God's love with each and every child. The children learn Christian songs each week and share their music with the congregation during the year. A Children's Christmas Program featuring the Sunday School children is an annual event.
Vacation Bible School is offered each summer for children ages pre-school through sixth grade. The week-long program is usually scheduled near the end of July and involves morning sessions. Children from the congregation and community enjoy Bible based lessons as well as games, special music, wonderful treats, and craft projects.
Junior High and Senior High Youth -
Peace In Christ offers a youth ministry for Junior High and Senior High teens. A youth staffer leads a program that offers activity nights, Sunday morning Bible study, and service events that impact both church and community. Many of the youth attend Camp Luther each Summer.
Led by Pastor Ludwig, confirmation class is offered to all seventh and eighth grade youth. Confirmation involves a two-year program where seventh and eighth graders meet together on Wednesdays after school. The curriculum rotates with students spending one year studying the Bible and one year studying the Catechism.
Held on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. from September through May. The class is led by Pastor Ludwig.
Wednesday Men's Bible Breakfast -
This group meets year-round on Wednesday mornings at a local restaurant. The men start their day with ample portions of food and fellowship. Pastor Ludwig leads the group in studying a particular book of the Bible or related books. The study group begins at 7:00 a.m. and usually lasts an hour.
Wednesday Morning Women's Study Group -
This study group is perfect for "stay at home moms". Weekly sessions begin at 9:30 a.m. and feature great discussions, lots of laughter, prayer, and homemade treats. Moms are encouraged to bring their children. A free will offering pays for a baby-sitter. Pastor Ludwig leads the studies that have included books of the Bible as well as topics such as marriage and parenting.
Monthly Senior's Group -PICLS PIC is blessed with a lively group of retired members who refer to themselves as PICOLS (Peace In Christ Old Ladies/Men Society). With a name like that, you know they have fun. The PICOLS group enjoys monthly outings that feature great food and friendship.
Small Group Bible Studies Small Group Bible Studies gather for 4-6 week sessions during the year. The groups enjoy a variety of Bible-based topics or studies and meet either at church, in member homes, or other locations. These groups are a great opportunity for spiritual growth, fellowship, and usually much laughter.
The Adult Choir adds richly to the worship experience at Peace In Christ with joyous singing and a wide variety of musical selections. The choir rehearses once a week, usually on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. Over twenty people are involved with choir and agree that the rehearsals are a great spiritual "pick-me-up" during the week. The choir is active from September through May.
Christmas Cookie Walk and Breakfast -
The Peace In Christ women have been sponsoring a Christmas Cookie Walk and Breakfast for several years. The annual event takes place in early December and is a fund-raiser that benefits church and community projects. Over 14,000 cookies were sold each year!
The Spring dinner is another annual fund-raiser sponsored by the Peace In Christ women. The all "home-made menu" attracts hungry patrons from all over the Duluth area. This event also benefits a variety of church and community projects.
Each Fall and Winter the Peace In Christ men are invited to a three day retreat in the north country. The men choose different locations, such as rustic cabins or a houseboat. Bible Study, hiking, canoeing, a fire on the beach, sauna, hot tub, much laughter, good food, and great fellowship are enjoyed by all.
Rally Sunday/Church Picnic-
Rally Sunday is the day for the Peace In Christ annual church picnic. It is held on the church grounds. Members enjoy a barbecue pot luck dinner under the big tent. Adults are challenged to play volleyball on the church volleyball court. A variety of games/prizes are enjoyed by children of all ages. The keg of root beer is also a big hit each year.
Fall Lake Camping Trip-
Each summer PIC families reserve campsites at the beautiful Fall Lake campsite in northern Minnesota. This trip fills up quickly and families enjoy up to a week's worth of fishing, swimming, boating and everything else offered by the beautiful lake country. Great food and daily devotions are always on the menu.
Peace In Christ members are invited to play co-ed softball during the Summer months. The team is part of the Duluth church league organized by the YWCA. All team members get a chance to play in every game. The league provided umpires. The games are played for fun, exercise, and fellowship with other Christians in the area.
